Here are the rules we follow when preparing the texts on this site. It sets out what the statements rest on and how quickly we act on a report.
Responsibility for what is published
Material is published with a byline, not anonymously. Questions about the content go to the author, not to a nameless support desk.
Material on this site is prepared and checked by Eleanor Ashworth.
Where the data comes from
Data is taken from whoever collected it, not from whoever quoted it. If a statement cannot be verified, it does not go into the text.
What to do if you find a mistake
A report can be written in plain words — it only needs to say where the problem is. A confirmed error is fixed, and the piece gets an updated date together with a note on what exactly changed.
